Chicago is a town full of mover and shakers. It always had been, but the impact of talented, ambitious Chicagoans — many of whom live in Chicago luxury homes — is being felt all over the country thanks to President Barack Obama. A recent article on Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley in the Wall Street Journal enumerated the many ways in which Chicago has been in the political spotlight recently:
President Barack Obama is now in the White House, and he’s brought plenty of Chicago with him to Washington. Obama’s imported a slew of the best and the brightest Chicagoans as cabinet members, staff members and other leaders. Those buying Chicago real estate might end up living next door to someone who is shaping the future of our country.
While Obama’s ambition has brought hope to our nation, it’s important to remember that ambition can also get people into trouble. There’s no better reminder of this than the saga of Chicagoan and former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Both good and bad, Chicago is a town full of strivers.
The world’s eyes may turn to Chicago even more if the city wins its bid to host the Olympics in 2016. Buyers of Chicago luxury condos will likely reap the rewards with a rise in a property values. The bid is real, and the fact that Chicago is President Obama’s hometown certainly doesn’t hurt its chances.
Be it with politicos or Olympians, ambitious hard workers investing in Chicago homes for sale will find themselves in good company.
